In my life I have observed many Ironies. I remember one classmate who was the principal's son. I would have thought that he would be a good student and would never be shown in bad light. He came to be the complete opposite. He used the power and information his mother had as principal \to set up other kids he didn't like, force those that didn't notice him and plainly cheat in every way. A shocker as one would never think such a thing for this young man. The irony was his appeared mask and his villain like truth.
The poem "Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson it is steady with calm tone. Most of the poem is made up of good words, compliments, and envied thoughts of one person's character, persona and appearance. " And admirably schooled in every grace: In fine, we thought he was everything, To make us wish that we were in his place". Riding along the smooth walkway of a right track, the writer abruptly changes direction but with the same steady and calm tone as before but revealing an unexpected twist. "So on we worked, and waited for the light, And went without meat, and cursed the bread; And Richard Cory, one calm summer night, Went home and put a bullet through his head". In the first 3 parts of the poem, Richard Cory was a man of educational admiration and impeccable gentleman, nothing in between. He was also a man with a finance of all of life's finer things but "..always human when he spoke". People couldn't help but stare and watch his handsome grace and admire everything about him that there was. It made those in admiration want to work harder or do harder to achieve such grace, also making those who envied curse themselves for just not being as special such.
Richard couldn't truly understand the big effect he had on those that reacted to and envied him. Those people didn't really understand nor know the issues he may have been having. Maybe that put together and perfect person he showed to be was an act and hard because he wasn't and his life just may not have been that smooth as it seemed to look. But that one calm summer night he put a bullet through his head knowingly sent a shock and complete reevaluations of who he was was for the many who never truly knew his thoughts.
